RELEASE OF FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

STATUS FOR STATE ACHIEVEMENT TESTING PROGRAM PURPOSES

The Improving America's Schools Act (IASA) requires disaggregation of test results within each state, local educational agency, and school by, among other factors, economically disadvantaged students compared to students who are not economically disadvantaged. Additionally, California Education Code requires the State Superintendent of Instruction to prepare an annual report of the results of the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program containing an analysis of various factors that appear to have a significant bearing on the results, including economic factors.

Because Aid to Families With Dependent Children (AFDC) data is no longer available, eligibility status for free or reduced priced meal programs is the indicator for economic disadvantage for both the federal and state reporting requirements. This data is collected on the student demographic form for the designated achievement test.
In the
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District this confidential list of students meeting the free or reduced priced meal program eligibility status will be provided to each school so that this data can be included in the demographic data on the state achievement test. The persons receiving this information will be the superintendent's designated site state test coordinators and the district state test coordinator and no others.

In releasing this information for state testing purposes, PYLUSD ensures that:

No individual indicators of participation in any free or reduced price meal program are maintained in the permanent record of any pupil.
No public release of information regarding individual pupil participation in any free or reduced price meal program is permitted.
The confidentiality provisions required by law are met.

The eligibility data will be used solely for the purpose stated in this policy.
