In order to assist principals in the coordination, development and continuous updating of the instructional program, the Board of Education provides for the positions of department heads and grade-level chairpersons. Positions named in this policy are NOT designated management.

Candidates for these positions shall be evaluated and recommended annually prior to May 1 by the principal to the superintendent for approval by the Board of Education.

The job descriptions, compensation and allotment for each school are delineated in the district's administrative regulations.

The superintendent will be responsible for recommending the activation or deletion of these positions to the governing board, and for determining that a statement of qualification and job description is developed and maintained.
