It is the policy of the Board of Education that the district participate in the State School Deferred Maintenance program.

The district will maintain a five-year maintenance plan in accordance with State regulations. The plan will be updated annually to reflect work actually accomplished and new requirements identified.

Funds at least in the amount of one-half of one percent (1/2 of 1%) of the district's General Fund budget less capital outlay and debt service, or the amount certified by the superintendent of public instruction as "maintenance of effort," whichever is higher, shall be annually transferred to the restricted deferred maintenance fund. All funds expended from this fund shall be for items contained in the approved deferred maintenance plan.

In the event the state chooses not to continue the deferred maintenance program, the district shall budget a minimum of one percent (1%) of the General Fund budget to implement the deferred maintenance plan.
