RETENTION OF CONSULTANTS

The governing board recognizes the occasional need for the use of consultants. The board encourages the use of consultants when it is clear they can provide valuable and necessary specialized services not normally required on a continuing basis and which cannot be provided by district personnel because of limitations of time, experience, or knowledge.

The governing board shall not enter into any contract for personal consulting services, except legal services or services for the fiscal audit of the district finances, until and unless the following steps have been completed:

  1. The abilities and availability of the employees of the district to perform the service have been thoroughly examined
  1. The abilities and availability of the employees of the office of the county Superintendent of Schools to provide the service have been examined
  1. The abilities and availability of the employees of districts or county offices of education adjoining the district have been examined
