PUBLICATIONS CODE

 

The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District believes that student publications shall be free to exercise the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U. S. Constitution. Schools are authorized to establish school newspapers, yearbooks, literary magazines, and similar publications as they relate to the curricular and cocurricular programs. Funding of publications shall be at the option of the principal.

The student editorial staff and faculty advisor shall establish editorial policy which promotes responsible journalism. The material included in the publications must have serious literary, social, political, or aesthetic value, and not be patently offensive by local community standards. Material which deals primarily with sex in a manner appealing to prurient interest is prohibited.
