On and after January 1, 1976, the board may initiate and carry on any program, activity, or may otherwise act in any manner which is not in conflict with or inconsistent with, or preempted by, any law and which is not in conflict with the purposes for which school districts are established.

The powers and duties of the board include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. To contract for goods and services
  2. To employ and to discharge
  3. To sue and to be sued
  4. To hold and to convey property

These are powers to the extent they can and may be exercised by the board within the limits of law.
