COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER AIDES

To establish procedures for administering the Board of Education policy pertaining to community volunteer aides

D. Procedure

1. Principals may utilize community volunteer aides within their schools in accordance with the desires of staff and the appropriateness to the program.

2. Principals shall develop procedures for the use of aides on each campus including identification of aides, duties and responsibilities, and recognition activities.

3. Principals are responsible for insuring that all volunteer aides demonstrate standards of personal conduct and behavior consistent with that required of school employees.

4. Volunteer aides having direct contact with students must be in good health. Volunteers living outside the district boundaries may be required to fulfill fingerprinting and TB test requirements.

5. The utilization of volunteer aides who are not residents of the school district and/or who represent an organization not directly related to the schools must be approved by the superintendent or designee prior to the performance of services.

6. All activities of volunteer aides directly dealing with students must be under the supervision of a credentialed employee and shall be in strict accordance with law and policy.
