DISTRIBUTION OF MATERIALS IN SCHOOLS

 

A.      Purpose and Scope

To establish specific guidelines for the approval and distribution of non-school related materials to students.

B.     General

1.      These regulations apply to all non-school related materials proposed for distribution to students through the schools of the district.

2.      All materials proposed for distribution must qualify under the provisions of Board of Education Policy 1315.

3.      Suggestions and/or questions regarding this procedure should be directed to the Assistant Superintendent - Educational Services.

D.     Procedure

1.      A letter requesting permission to distribute non-school sponsored material must be presented to the Educational Services Division at least 10 days prior to the desired date of the distribution. This letter must indicate the desired date of distribution and extent of desired distribution. The letter must be on official letterhead and signed by an authorized representative or official of the organization.

2.   All non-school sponsored materials must contain the statement, "This program is not affiliated with the school or school district. The school district does not endorse or sponsor this activity.”

3.   At schools, distribution shall be under the control of the principal and staff.

4.   Students may refuse to accept the distribution of non-school sponsored materials.

5.   Final decisions relating to this issue rest with the Assistant Superintendent - Educational Services.

      None

F.   Record Retention

      Letters of request – 1 year or longer as determined by Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services (with copy of “Approval of Distribution of Flyer” attached.)
