COMMUNICATION WITH THE PUBLIC

The Board of Education, recognizing that the schools belong to the public, firmly believes that the school district operates most successfully with the support of the community and that such support depends on the effectiveness of two-way communication between the district and its community.

The board encourages the community to make its opinions known, individually and collectively, through written and oral communications, attendance at district-sponsored functions and involvement in the educational process. Furthermore, the board will solicit community opinions in matters of major importance and shall strive to keep the community informed of developments within the school system in a timely manner.

The superintendent or designee shall use all available means of communication to keep the public aware of the goals, programs, achievement, and needs of the district. Members of the community shall have the opportunity to become involved in the schools and to express their interests and concerns.
