MANAGEMENT INTERN PROGRAM

Purpose and Scope
The
management intern program is designed to identify and provide training and
experience to certificated employees who are interested in becoming future
managers in the

General
1.
Eligibility
a.
A
candidate for Level I must submit a Management Intern Program Application, a
personal letter of application and a resume to the Management Intern Program
Administrator.
b.
A
candidate for Level II must submit a resume, a personal letter of application
which verifies that the candidate has met minimum requirements for that level,
and a confidential file to the Management Intern Program Administrator.
2.
Program Requirements
a.
Level
I - Minimal Entry Requirements for One-Year Program
1)
Successful
classroom experience - as evidence by three (3) years of above-average
evaluations
2)
Administrative
Credential or in progress
3)
Letter
from present principal
4)
Enrolled
in a Master's Program
b.
Level
II - Minimal Entry Requirements for One-Year Program
1)
Four
(4) years of successful classroom experience and completion of Level I with
recommendation to continue in Level II
2)
Master's
Degree or completion by end of school year
3)
Must
have an Administrative Credential completed
4)
Successful
interview with Management Intern Program Committee
5)
Letter
from site manager and manager intern
6)
Completion
of PDP

Application Selection Procedures
a.
Level
I - A Management Intern Program Committee chosen by the Management Intern
Program Administrator will review all submitted materials and recommend
participants for the program for that school year to the superintendent. The
committee will consist of the Management Intern Program Administrator, a
principal from each level, and an Educational Services administrator.
b.
Level
II - Following the initial screening procedure of a candidate's papers, an
interview will be held with the Management Intern Program Committee. From these
interviews, candidates will be recommended for advancement to Level II.

D.
Procedure
1.
Level I -
Participants will:
a.
Attend
a minimum of five (5) Management Intern Program workshops during the school
year
b.
Take
part in diagnostic/assessment activities relating to management leadership and
self-evaluation skills
c.
Assist
site managers in various school administrative tasks: e.g., budget, inventory,
scheduling, interviewing, program development, project writing, discipline,
etc.
d.
Assist
the site managers in writing reports, public speaking, community activities,
staff communication, etc. in order to develop appropriate management skills
e.
Successfully
complete the Professional Development Program offered by the

Write
an action plan approved by the site manager encompassing all aspects of Level
I. A copy of this plan will be filed with the Management Intern Program
Administrator within thirty (30) days of acceptance into the program.
2.
Level II -
Participants will:
a.
Attend
a minimum of five (5) advanced Management Intern Program workshops
b.
Take
part in advanced diagnostic/assessment activities relating to management,
leadership and self-evaluation skills
c.
Be
responsible for assigned management tasks, including but not limited to:
budget, district procedures, scheduling, inventories, discipline, personnel activities,
parent conferences, curriculum development, special projects, plant management
d.
Be
assigned responsibilities in all the following areas as a minimum: writing
reports, public speaking, community activities, staff communication, in order
to develop appropriate management skills
e.
Be
allowed up to five (5) days of released time to implement Level II experiences
as coordinated by site manager and approved by the Management Intern Program
Administrator
f.
Successfully
complete the advanced course of the Professional Development Program offered in
the

Write
an action plan approved by the site manager encompassing all aspects of Level
II. A copy of this plan will be filed with the Management Intern Program
Administrator within thirty (30) days of acceptance into the program.
3.
Final Review
Upon
completion of the Management Intern Program, the participant will have a final
interview with a committee made up of the Management Intern Program Committee,
the participant's site manager, and the superintendent. Each candidate will
then receive a written assessment of their performance in the Management Intern
Program and their potential as a manager in the
