VACATIONS (MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL)

 

A.      Purpose and Scope

1.      The District will provide vacations with pay to management personnel in proportion to the time worked each year as outlined below for those working full-time. Management personnel working less than full-time equivalent shall have their vacation prorated.

B.     General

1.      Vacation Computation:

a.      Vacation credit shall be computed on a fiscal year basis beginning July 1 and ending June 30.

b.      Length of service for determining vacation credit is computed from the first scheduled working day of the month employed or re-employed. To earn credit for a particular month, an administrator must have started work on the first scheduled working day of the month. Vacation is earned at the rate of 1.8 days per full month of paid service. A month of paid service is defined as the number of scheduled working days for a month.

2.      Scheduling of Vacations

a.      By July 1st of each school year, a work schedule calendar shall be adopted for management personnel.

b.      Earned vacation shall be taken at the convenience of the district and with prior approval of the administrator's supervisor.

c.      It is the responsibility of management personnel to schedule their vacation with their supervisor.

3.      Accumulating Vacation Credits

a.      In accordance with the established policy, earned vacation credits may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next with prior approval of the superintendent.

4.      Vacation Pay Upon Separation:

a.      An administrator who terminates employment through retirement, layoff, resignation or termination, shall receive vacation pay in lieu of paid vacation time off or shall receive paid vacation time off for unused vacation credit earned. Effective July 1, 1980, an administrator shall receive vacation pay in lieu of paid vacation time off or paid vacation for the unused vacation credit earned up to maximum of forty-four (44) days.

b.      Length of service on the last day worked is used in determining vacation eligibility. Management personnel receive no credit for the month of separation unless their last day of work is the last working day of the month for the administrator's position.

D.     Procedure

1.      Earned vacation will be taken in accordance with the annually adopted work schedule calendar.

2.      It is the responsibility of each administrator to report, in writing, to the Personnel Office any changes in the scheduled use of earned vacation time which has been approved by the administrator's supervisor.

3.      In the absence of written communication to the Personnel Office which indicates changes in the scheduled use of earned vacation, each administrator will be charged for use of vacation time in accordance with the appropriate work schedule calendar.

E.     Reports Required

At the conclusion of each school year, the Assistant Superintendent, Personnel Services, will monitor the use and accrual of earned vacation credit of all management personnel.

F.      Record Retention

All permanent records will be maintained by Personnel Services.
