FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING - CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL

A.      Purpose and Scope

1.      To state the opportunity made available for classified employees to schedule flexible work hours

2.      To define the procedure for classified employees to request changes in their scheduled work time and to have such requests approved or denied

B.     General

1.      The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District makes available to its classified employees a system of scheduling flexible work hours designed to accommodate specific, justifiable, personal needs.

2.      Supervisors may approve requests by classified employees for such schedules except when:

a.      Performance requirements of the job assigned may be jeopardized; i.e., job performance must not suffer and undue inconvenience must not be imposed on any other party if the request is granted.

b.      Adequate supervision relative to the needs of the particular job assignment may not be available.

c.      The health and safety of any district employee or other person may be threatened.

d.      Scheduling would be contrary to wage and hour provisions as defined in statute; i.e., schedules requested must not vary hours so as to exceed eight (8) working hours per day or otherwise impose "overtime" and must not conflict with any law.

3.      Requests for a flexible work schedule must be submitted on the appropriate form, and once approved will remain as requested until a new request is submitted and approved, or other administrative action is taken to amend such hours.

4.      Immediate supervisors of classified employees and the Director of Human Resource Development are responsible for the implementation of this procedure.

5.      Suggestions or questions regarding this procedure should be directed to the Director of Human Resource Development.
