HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT CLASSIFICATION
A.
Purpose
and Scope
To outline district
requirements and procedures for classification of students not meeting
graduation unit requirements

General
Classification of
students shall occur annually prior to registration of students for the ensuing
school year. Any questions regarding these procedures should be directed to the
site manager or to the Assistant Superintendent - Educational Services. A
student's status will be determined by units earned as follows:

Procedure
1.
Prior to
the classification of a student at the same grade level, the
parent(s)/guardian(s) shall be notified in writing.
2.
A
parent conference shall be conducted for students who are classified at the
same grade level. This conference shall include the parent(s), student,
principal and/or designee and counselor. The conference shall be held to
cooperatively develop an educational plan for the ensuing year.
3.
Parents
shall be informed that the decision regarding classification has been made by
the appropriate school personnel.
4.
Students
who have been classified at the same grade level who fall behind an additional
ten (10) units may be referred to the district's alternative school or be
placed on a five (5) year educational plan.
