D.
Procedure
1.
When
the principal or his designee find to their satisfaction that a student possesses,
is under the influence, or has used drugs, narcotics, paraphernalia, or other
such illegal substances on the school grounds, or to or from school, or at
school or student body sponsored activities off campus, the following action
shall be taken:
a.
If it
appears that a statute has been violated, the local law enforcement agency
shall be notified.
b.
In
consideration of the act and the previous record of the student, appropriate
disciplinary action shall be taken. The parent/guardian shall be notified in
conference, by telephone, or by mail of such action.
c.
A
conference will be scheduled with the parent/guardian and student.
d.
A plan
for positive action shall be developed in cooperation with the parent/guardian,
student, and other appropriate personnel or agencies.
e.
As
appropriate to the situation, further disciplinary action may be taken
including recommendation for expulsion.
2.
When
the principal or his designee find to their satisfaction that a student has
distributed drugs, narcotics, paraphernalia, or other such illegal substances
on campus, to or from school, or at a school or student body sponsored activity
off campus, the following action shall be taken:
a.
If it
appears that a statute has been violated, the local law enforcement agency
shall be notified.
b.
The
student shall be suspended pending law enforcement or judicial disposition. The
parent/guardian shall be notified of such action in conference, by telephone,
or by mail.
c.
A
review of the student's records shall be made.
d.
A
conference will be scheduled with the parent/guardian and student.
e.
Recommendation
for expulsion will be made to the superintendent.
3.
When
the principal or his designee is advised of off-campus drug violation by the
various law enforcement agencies, the following action shall be taken:
a.
A
conference may be scheduled with the parent/ guardian and student.
b.
A
review of the student's school records shall be made.
c.
A plan
for positive action shall be developed in cooperation with the parent/
guardian, student, and other appropriate personnel or agencies.
d.
As
appropriate to the situation, disciplinary action may be taken or
recommendations made.
4.
When a
student is continual or habitual in his use, possession, or distribution of
drugs, narcotics, paraphernalia, or other such illegal substances, the
principal shall recommend the student for expulsion. Three or more offenses
shall be considered continual or habitual. This does not preclude the making of
such a recommendation in other single or serious cases.

1.
Anecdotal
discipline and guidance records retained while the student is enrolled.
2.
Records
shall be kept by the school administrator until the student's graduation year
has passed, then destroyed.
