CIVIL AND LEGAL RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the policy of
the Board of Education of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District
that all students shall enjoy all rights granted them by the Education Code,
the Government Code, Title V, and board policies and bylaws. In addition,
students have the right to certain procedural processes as such relate to
personal conduct and resulting liabilities.
The exercise of civil
rights does not extend to the disruption of the educational process or
lessening the discipline required to maintain the safety and welfare of the
students in the public schools.
The Board of
Education further affirms the right and responsibility of the school official
to act in loco parentis on behalf of the minor
student.
