NON-SCHOOL SPONSORED EDUCATIONAL
TOURS/ACTIVITIES
The Placentia-Yorba Linda
Unified School District Board of Education recognizes that employees of the
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District as individuals or as staff
members of commercial tour companies sometimes conduct extended educational
tours during vacation periods which may involve the participation of
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District students.
Although the Board of
Education recognizes the educational value of travel experiences, the board will
neither sanction nor assume any responsibility for these activities. Employees
engaged in planning, organizing or leading tours as a private business shall
make it clear that they do not represent the school or district. All activities
related to such tours must be held after school hours. Further, the name of the
school or district shall not be used in any promotional activity or document.
In addition, it is
recognized that employees of the district, acting as individuals or as staff
members of non-school sponsored entities, conduct educational camps and
activities and become non-school affiliated vendors during non-duty time. These
camps and activities are not sanctioned by the district, nor is the district
responsible for them in any way. district employees
shall not use school time, student or personnel records, any school
information, or his/her position as a district employee to solicit or promote
such camps, activities, or to advertize or sell any
product. Any such activity or camp shall not be represented as being sponsored
or approved by the district, or that participation is part of any district
program. Further, any use of district facilities must be after school hours and
in full compliance with district policies and regulations related to Civic
Center Act usage. Advertising and promotion of such camps or activities must be
in accordance with Board Policy 1325.
