The goal of home or
hospital instruction shall be maintenance of the student's former level of
performance while recovering from the temporary disability so as not to
jeopardize the student's future performance upon returning to a regular class
or alternative education program. As such, it is expected that the
home/hospital instructor and the student's current classroom teacher or
teachers cooperatively provide an instructional program so as to provide a
continuity of instruction that enables the student to keep up with the regular
school program insofar as is possible.
Eligibility, parent
and district responsibilities, and accounting procedures shall be specified in
administrative regulations consistent with state law. Moreover, as required by
law, the district shall notify parents annually (1) that individual instruction
is available for temporarily disabled students and (2) that when a student
becomes temporarily disabled, it is the responsibility
of the parent/guardian to notify the district in which the student is receiving
care.
