FIRE
A.
Purpose and Scope
To implement a general district policy and state law concerning fire
safety
B.
General
1.
Each principal shall develop the specific procedure
as to escape routes, safe areas and other matters related to fire safety in
each school.
a.
A copy of the procedure must be submitted to the
superintendent's office
b.
A copy must be made available to all instructors
and students
c.
Copies must be conspicuously posted in all
buildings
2.
Each school will conduct fire drills at least once
monthly.

D.
Procedure
1.
Any person in a school upon discovery of a fire
shall cause the alarm to be sounded.
2.
All students shall be instructed at the beginning
of any new school year, semester or more often (as appropriate) in the fire
safety techniques developed by the school.
3.
Drills:
a.
All schools in conjunction with testing fire
signals shall hold a fire drill at least once monthly in which students and
staff shall practice proper fire safety procedures.
b.
All sound signals, except alarms used for no other
purpose and possessing a distinctive tone, shall be for a period of 10 seconds,
followed by a period of silence for 5 seconds, for at least a full minute.
4.
Staff members shall be responsible for overseeing
the execution of proper fire safety techniques by the pupils in their charge at
the time of the alarm.

Record Retention
Copies of the procedures of each school shall be submitted to the
superintendent's office and retained by the Assistant Superintendent, Personnel
Services.
