BOMB THREATS
A.
Purpose and Scope
To establish uniform procedures for dealing with bomb threats
B.
General
1.
Every bomb threat is a potential danger. None
should be taken lightly or ignored.
2.
The principal should determine how long it takes to
evacuate each school to establish a time buffer.
3.
Secure district assistance for dealing with the
press.

Procedure
1.
Obtain and record all information received.
2.
Notify police.
3.
Notify the district office
4.
Alert only necessary school personnel to carry out
school plan.
5.
Establish a danger zone to protect students and
staff.
6.
Direct search teams to look for suspicious objects
(warn against handling of objects).
7.
If an object is found:
a.
Shut off water, gas and fuel lines in the danger
zone
b.
Seal that area until police arrive
8.
If no object is found, the principal will determine
if evacuation is warranted.
9.
All efforts should be made to maintain calm.
