INCLEMENT WEATHER
(Rain, Smog, Fog,
Wind)
A.
Purpose and Scope
To set forth a uniform general policy concerning inclement weather
procedure

General
In most cases schools will be notified when conditions exist such that
action must be taken; however, independent discretion must be exercised when
weather conditions have affected one school to a greater extent than others
(i.e., access roads washed out or buildings damaged).

Procedure
1.
Air Pollution:
a.
Should air quality deteriorate to such a level that
activity must be curtailed, the Risk Management department which monitors air
quality alerts, will notify Administration which will in turn notify school
principals as to the alert and what steps should be taken.
b.
The district shall abide by official South Coast
Air Quality Management District policies as they develop

Rain, Fog, Wind:
a.
In the event that rain, fog, or wind poses a
significant district-wide safety hazard, Administration will notify school
principals as far in advance as possible of the danger and the steps to be
taken.
b.
In the event that rain, fog, or wind affects one
school so that in the judgment of the principal a safety problem exists, the
principal shall inform the superintendent of the problem and his
recommendations, and appropriate action will be arranged.
