A.
Purpose
& Scope
To establish criteria for granting of grandfathering
privileges as a result of district initiated boundary changes.
B.
General
1. Students
affected by district initiated boundary changes may be considered for the
following grandfathering privileges:
a.
Students
in the Topaz attendance area will be eligible for enrollment in

Students in the Topaz attendance
area shall be assigned
to the
c.
Students who will be entering
their final year of attendance
at a school
affected by the boundary change may request continued enrollment at their
current school of attendance pursuant to existing board policy on school choice. These students shall be considered as Priority
A for enrollment in their current school and allowed to remain at that school
should space be available.
2. An eligible student as
identified in section 1 (c) above, shall have a one-time choice
between the newly designated school and the enrollment options provided
above. The school selected for
attendance will be construed as the student’s school of residence.
3. Subsequent
transfer requests will be considered in accordance with existing district
policy.
4. Siblings
will be afforded the same grandfathering provisions provided they will be in
attendance concurrently with an older brother or sister in the older sibling’s
original school of attendance.
5. District
transportation will only be provided to the district designated school of
attendance in accordance with existing district policy.

Procedure
Grandfathering rights may be obtained by submitting the
Choice Transfer Application Form through the Child Welfare and Attendance
office.
